PMU AFTERCARE INSTRUCTIONS

Please read this document in full and strictly follow the aftercare information stated.

DIRECTLY AFTER YOUR TREATMENT
Please remember that the colour of the ink will appear up to 50% darker immediately after your treatment but the pigment will start to become lighter after four to seven days.

The true healed colour will not come through until approximately four to six weeks after the initial treatment.

During the healing process the colour may seem to disappear for a period as the pigment is obscured by the healing layers of skin but do not worry it will return as your skin heals.

Under no circumstances should you have any further permanent cosmetics work undertaken during this four to six week period.

Ice packs wrapped in a clean cloth may be applied as necessary to reduce swelling.

If you have had lip treatment and are someone who usually suffers with cold sores we suggest the use of anti-herpes medication which can be obtained from your doctor or over the counter at your chemist as the treatment can sometimes cause a flare up.

DAILY AFTERCARE ROUTINE
(Follow this routine for at very least a week after your treatment but ideally until the skin is fully healed)

Always wash your hands before cleansing or applying aftercare balm to your new cosmetic tattoo work.

We recommend using a gentle natural soap to clean your fresh SPMU during the healing period.

Alternatively you can purchase a packet of "Water Wipes" from any large supermarket (Water Wipes are a biodegradable baby wipe that contain only water and a small amount of citrus).

Gently clean the tattooed area being careful not to excessively rub the fresh pigment off.

Once clean gently pat dry any excess water and then allow the area to fully air dry.

When dry apply your chosen aftercare balm.

(we recommend using a natural body butter with minimal ingredients or a professional tattoo aftercare cream - we do sell our own on this website and in the studio)

You can use a clean cotton bud to apply your aftercare each time.

This will stop you having to touch the area and will help prevent infection.

Do this process a minimum of three times daily.

Keep hair away from the area to help prevent infection.

If the area gets wet for whatever reason then again gently pat dry using clean lint free tissue. Do not rub!

Some itching is normal but do not pick, peel or scratch the treated area at all! This may result in the colour healing unevenly and you also risk scarring and infection.

Allow the healing pigment to gently flake off on its own and do not try to speed up the process by rubbing off the scabs as this will pull out ink and create uneven results!

IMPORTANT DO NOTS
Do not apply makeup before 72 hours after the treatment.

(If you have had a treatment near the eyes use a brand new mascara).

Do not expose the healing skin to extreme heat, cold or moisture for two weeks following your treatment (This includes direct sunlight, tanning beds, jacuzzis, saunas, salt water, chlorinated pools, direct shower spray, hot water, skin creams or ointments other than what you have been instructed to use above).

Do not apply petroleum based ointments to the area for at least a week after the treatment. After this time ointments of this type can be applied and are recommended if you plan to use chlorinated pools or jacuzzis to protect the area.

Do not take part in any strenuous activity which could result in excessive perspiration (If you have had lip treatment, you should also avoid eating spicy and salty foods. Drink liquids through a straw and refrain from kissing until the area is fully healed)

LONG TERM CARE
SPMU treatments are a low maintenance treatment,

not a no- maintenance treatment!

In order to keep your semi-permanent cosmetics in perfect condition it may be necessary to have a maintenance procedure around every 12-18 months, though this will vary for each individual.

To avoid pigment fading for as long as possible, avoid excessive exposure to the sun or UV rays.

Take care when using moisturisers and other skin products which contain glycolic or fruity acids as these can fade semi-permanent make up.

If you are planning an MRI scan, chemical peel or any other similar procedures please inform your practitioner that you have had semi-permanent cosmetics.

If you are planning on having anti aging injectables or cosmetic surgery, remember these procedures can alter the shape of your lips and eyebrows.

Laser hair removal can fade and change the shade of your lip or brow procedure, always advise the laser technician you are wearing semi-permanent cosmetics and they can act accordingly.

THINGS TO BARE IN MIND
You may experience Tenderness, Flaking, Dryness and itching in the treated area for two to five days after the treatment.

After an eye procedure, eyelashes may stick together and eyelids appear red and puffy.

If you are feeling less than 100% healthy it may take longer for your treatment to heal and symptoms may appear more prominent.

You may not be eligible to give blood for four months post procedure.

Finally if you are unsure at all regarding any of the above information or have any issues or questions regarding your treatment please do not hesitate to contact us immediately.
